In their time of trouble, U.S. automakers, raised their questioning eyes to The Swamp along the Potomac in their time of trouble and The Great Nanny heard their petitions. Federal bailout money poured in so cars allegedly wouldn’t all be made in Japan. Yet the Motor City itself fell into ruin – bankrupt from years of leftist (mis)management. The latest news is that as the Detroit Institute of Arts made its slow walk to the chopping block, the automakers donated money – a bunch of failed businesses giving money to a failed government, undoubtedly thanks to back-room arm-twisting. And the whole mess could have been avoided if Detroit had just played by free market rules.
