After four years of exploring their world, asking questions and debating the results, students at University of California at Irvine were told by Barack Obama to just shut up and accept climate change. “When President Kennedy set us on a course for the moon, there were a number of people who made a serious case that it wouldn’t be worth it,” Obama said during his commencement address. “But nobody ignored the science. I don’t remember anyone saying the moon wasn’t there, or that it was made of cheese.” Obama is comparing apples and oranges. The moon mission was a line item on the budget, which sought to place a man on top of a rocket and shoot him up into space. It did not seek to restructure society. Last time we checked, we have ice on the icecaps – the predictions 10 years ago turned out false. However, Obama has a few reasons why he wants people to accept his plan without question. More…
