Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko seems to be caving under Russia’s shadow attack against his country. Russia shut off the gas supply to the country, and demanded the country pay billions for the gas lines to be turned back on. While Hot Air’s Erika Johnsen says Ukraine can hold out over the summer with its oil reserves, winter is coming. Poroshenko either “offers a cease-fire” or “orders to temporarily halt punitive operation [sic] in Donbass,” depending on whether you believe The Washington Post or Pravda, a Kremlin-friendly publication which evolved from the newspaper of the Communist party there. According to WaPo, rebels are not accepting Poroshenko’s offer. One rebel leader said, “They cease fire, we lay down weapons and then they will capture us weaponless.” With a parliamentary election coming up in Ukraine, it appears time is on Russia’s side.
