In a 2-1 decision, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board canceled the trademarks of the Washington Redskins® because “based on the evidence properly before us,” the board wrote, “that these registrations must be cancelled because they were disparaging to Native Americans at the respective times they were registered.” The NFL team said in a press release it will fight the decision, just the way it did in 1999 and 2003. Over the last few weeks, the Left has hounded Redskins owner Dan Snyder over the name, because politicking didn’t take up enough of their time, apparently. Given that the nickname of the team is “the hogs,” if the Redskins do change their name, they should rebrand as The Pork Barrel Spenders. More…
