Former Montana Democrat Gov. Brian Schweitzer made a bizarre boast: “My gaydar is 60-70 percent.” What in the world did he mean? Schweitzer was talking about soon-to-be former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor – but also Southern men in general – sounding “effeminate.” Schweitzer explained, “If you were just a regular person, you turned on the TV, and you saw Eric Cantor talking, I would say – and I’m fine with gay people, that’s all right – but my gaydar is 60-70 percent. Don’t hold this against me, but I’m going to blurt it out. How do I say this… Men in the South, they are a little effeminate. They just have effeminate mannerisms.” Our humble shop is full of men from the South, and we guarantee Schweitzer is full of it. But he’s awfully lucky there’s a “D” after his name and not an “R,” or the Rainbow Mafia would take him out.
