Remember Barack Obama’s promise, “If you like your health plan, you can keep it”? That lie grows bigger by the day. After millions of Americans saw their health insurance policies canceled because of ObamaCare, more may soon experience a similar fate because their plans don’t meet the “Affordable” Care Act’s requirements. And this could also spell more trouble for Democrat incumbents. The Fiscal Times explains: “A little-known proposed change to the president’s health care law could result in a new political nightmare for Democrats who are vulnerable in the 2014 midterm elections. Vox.com says the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposal in March that would prohibit insurers from selling fixed-benefit insurance plans as stand-alone policies. … If the rule is approved, consumers will no longer have the option to buy this coverage without also buying a more comprehensive plan.” No one disputes these “bare bones” plans offer very limited coverage, but that’s not the issue.
