The Washington Post reports on the growing rift between Barack Obama’s America and the rest of the world: “Germany has asked the CIA station chief in the country to leave the country, an unusual action among allies that is a very public expression of anger over reported cases of U.S. spying in the country.” Revelations that the NSA was spying on Germany were likely not a surprise to the Germans – indeed, they’ve tried for years to join the short list of nations the U.S. promises not to spy on. But the expulsion is a display of requisite outrage by Chancellor Angela Merkel and it will no doubt sting “the most transparent administration in history.” More…
