Everything is awesome, says Joe Biden. “Businesses are hiring at historic rates, with 52 consecutive months of net private sector job growth,” the vice president claims. Yes, we’re 52 months in to job growth, but the numbers aren’t all rosy. For example, of the 288,000 jobs created in June, a sobering two-thirds were part-time. Worse, notes economist Ben Casselman, “For the 49th time in 50 months, more jobseekers gave up looking than found work.” The number of people not in the labor force grew to 92.1 million, an increase of 2.3 million from last year.
