The Patriot Post® · Christian Sudanese Woman Heads to U.S.

As extreme Islam bears down on Christians in the Middle East, at least one family’s story ends happily. Mariam Yehya Ibrahim, a Sudanese Christian, touched down in Italy and will eventually make her way to the U.S., where there is a bit more religious freedom than in Sudan. The Sudanese government had arrested Ibrahim and charged her with apostasy for having allegedly renounced the Islamic faith. While in Sudan, she faced the death sentence. Finally, after being released, trying to leave the country on her own, getting arrested again and fleeing to the U.S. embassy in Sudan, Ibrahim and her children, including a newborn, landed in Italy. Pope Francis met with the family to thank her for her “courageous witness to perseverance in the faith.” It’s good to know that America is still seen as a beacon of religious freedom. More…
