A working paper released by the professors at Harvard and the Vancouver School found the unhappiest cities in the nation were all bastions of liberal ideals. According to the study, New York City is one of the unhappiest places to live. Probably because it hates soda. Erie, Scranton and Pittsburgh – all in Pennsylvania – and Gary, Indiana, made the unhappy list. Apparently, the happiest place in the union is Louisiana, because the five happiest cities, Lafayette, Alexandria, Houma, Shreveport-Bossier City and Baton Rouge, lie within the Sugar State’s border.
