A study by the Competitive Enterprise Institute shows unions cost the average worker thousands of dollars over a 50-year period. The Washington Examiner reports the average worker lost $11,000 and the average worker in Nevada was $9,000 in the hole after the costs of unionization. In the study titled “The Unintended Consequences of Collective Bargaining,” the authors wrote, “the presence of labor unions that operate as bargaining agents in the process of collective bargaining has the potential to seriously inhibit economic growth in the several states and the District of Columbia.” To the liberal thinking unions help jobs, they might want to reconsider the fertile ground that right-to-work states create for their workers.
