The Patriot Post® · Suicide Bomber Chooses to Attack Syria Instead of U.S.

In May, Moner Mohammad Abusalha drove a dump truck packed with explosives into a Syrian restaurant and detonated. But it wasn’t the usual suicide attack. Abusalha was an American citizen. Worse still, after he completed training with Syrian militants in the ways of jihad, he returned to the United States where, according to The New York Times, he “chose to carry out his attack in Syria rather than in the United States.” America, it seems, dodged a close one. Michael Kortan, an FBI spokesperson, told NYT, “Although we cannot speak to details in this specific case, U.S. officials have warned for months of the difficulties of identifying Americans who travel to Syria to engage in armed conflict. This incident exemplifies the challenges faced by the F.B.I. in detecting U.S. citizens who seek to travel to Syria to engage in jihad.” More…
