The number of people crossing the Mexican-American border has slowed, but the traffic that remains seems to be growing violent. Over the last few weeks, Fox News reports, Border Patrol agents have taken fire from an automatic firearms and law enforcement has seen men in black uniforms toting rifles on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande. “This happens all the time. We’re out on the border, often we are alone, and all you hear is gunfire,” said a Border Patrol agent, his name not disclosed because the agents are not allowed to speak to the press. “We are sitting ducks, and it’s only getting worse. Every night, it gets worse.” Sounds like Texas Governor Rick Perry’s call sending the National Guard to the border might have been a good idea. More…
