The Patriot Post® · Hundreds of Obama's Laws May Be Illegal

It looks like the Obama administration’s spree of drafting rule after rule has hit a snag. Curtis Copeland, who retired from the Congressional Research Service, published a report saying the Obama administration wrote 1,200 laws that may have been, in fact, created illegally. In 1994, Congress passed the Congressional Review Act to curb an executive branch out of control. The act said federal rules could not go into effect until they were submitted to the Government Accountability Office and Congress for review. Federal agencies started to submit about 3,600 rules a year, inundating Congress. Between 2012 and 2013 the Obama administration declined to submit some 1,200 rules. Six of the rules were “major,” such as the Department of Defense’s $15 billion program to prevent and respond to sexual assaults. “It’s pretty apparent that the system is broken,” Copeland said. “It would seem this is one area where congressional Republicans and Democrats could get together and say: ‘This is crazy. We can fix this.’"  We hope this helps put a dent in Obama’s phone and pen presidency. More…
