About 64% of Missouri voters voted yes to amend their state constitution affirming and ordering the government to protect the right to keep and bear arms. Besides rehashing the Second Amendment, the amendment continues, “The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. The state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement.” According to Michael Boldin, director of the Tenth Amendment Center, this sets the stage for the state of Missouri to nullify some gun laws. “‘Under no circumstance’ is not beating around the bush,” he said. “When the federal government attempts to enforce a law, order, rule or regulation that violates the right to keep and bear arms, the state of Missouri is now required to step in and defend against that.” Here’s to a state willing to secure the Liberty of its people, a state that could very well stand up to the push from progressives for top-down gun control.
