Watch what Democrats are saying on immigration and you’ll get the sense Barack Obama is about to go all executive Rambo. The Left is anticipating this, and they’re carving out a political path for our phone ‘n’ pen president. Frank Sharry, executive director for immigration reform group America’s Voice gushed, “He’s going to go for it. He is going to be rolling a hand grenade in the middle of American politics that is going to explode. It is going to have untold effects on the midterm. I think he is going to do it before the midterm. It is going to have a huge impact on 2016. But I actually think he is playing to history more than the immediate politics.” And the Left is softening the political beaches for Obama’s anticipated assault on the Constitution. American Bridge, which the Huffington Post calls a “Democrat opposition research firm,” released a memo showing how past presidents have selectively enforced immigration laws – but never at the scale of five million people. As for executive orders, American Bridge’s research shows Republican presidents use the move more than Democrats. According to a graph in the memo, Obama has invoked the presidential pen less than any other president since Grover Cleveland.
