Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) took a chartered flight from New Orleans to Shreveport for an official event, and then jumped back on the plane to Dallas for a fundraiser. Naturally, taxpayers were on the hook for the trip, except that’s illegal. After a small firestorm erupted, her Senate office opted to reimburse $5,700 for the flight. It was just an oversight, her office insisted. Spokesman Fabien Levy said, “We take our finances very seriously and are glad we caught the vendor’s mistake and were able to rectify the matter as soon as possible.” Given that she’s trailing Rep.
