The Patriot Post® · Rick Perry Indicted for Vetoing Money for Drunken DA
Democrats in Texas are desperate. ABC News reports, “Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted by a Travis County grand jury Friday after an investigation into whether he abused his power when he vetoed state funding for the county’s district attorney office.” District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg was arrested and convicted for drunk driving. Perry thought perhaps she shouldn’t be in charge of the state’s Public Integrity Unit and asked her to resign. Being a Democrat, she didn’t, so he vetoed the appropriations for her office. How dare he! Responding to the indictment, Perry said, “I will explore every legal avenue to expedite this matter and bring it to a swift conclusion. I am confident … this farce of a prosecution will be revealed for what it is.” It certainly does appear to be a political farce, primarily because that’s what Democrats do best. More…
Update: Perry told Fox News Sunday, “I stood up for the Rule of Law in the state of Texas, and if I had to do it again I would make exactly the same decision. … This is not the way that we settle … political differences in this country. You don’t do it with indictments. We settle our political differences at the ballot box. And I think across the board, when you have David Axelrod and Harvard Law Professor [Alan] Dershowitz saying what they said, it’s reflective of what we’re looking at.”
