Lather, rinse, repeat. That seems to be the Obama administration’s strategy when it comes to the ObamaCare contraception mandate. For the eighth time, the White House issued a modification of the rule. After its major defeat in the Hobby Lobby case, the Friday afternoon news dump isn’t surprising. The Daily Signal reports on the tweak: “If a religious non-profit organization has a religious objection to providing or facilitating coverage of abortion-inducing drugs and devices or contraception, the employer can write a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) informing the government of such objection. The government will then direct the employer’s insurance company or third-party administrator to cover the objectionable drugs, devices, or services.” There are nearly 200 religious non-profits suing the administration over the mandate, and this latest tweak does little to assuage concerns. The administration is sticking to the mandate while deigning to offer a few exceptions to favored constituents or those who jump through sufficient hoops. Regardless, it’s not equal application of the law, and it’s not truly respectful of religious liberty. More…
