The Patriot Post® · Ukraine Detains Russian Paratroopers
All is still not well between Ukraine and Russia this week. The Washington Post reports, “Ukraine said Tuesday its forces detained a group of Russian paratroopers who crossed the border into eastern Ukraine, and the U.S. ambassador to Kiev warned of a possible ‘Russian-directed counteroffensive’ by pro-Moscow separatists, raising tensions between the two countries ahead of a planned meeting between their presidents at a regional summit.” It’s not an isolated incident, either. “The incident came a day after Ukraine accused Russian forces of carrying out a cross-border foray into southeastern Ukraine with tanks and armored personnel carriers.” Just a little over a month ago, Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine. But given the other crises around the world, Ukraine has already faded from the public eye. It shouldn’t.
