So if life’s circumstances ever drive you to the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System in search of a solid drug rehab program, beware: There is an unnamed employee that could hook you up with a crack house. The Montgomery Advertiser asked “what is a firing offense?” after it received a report of a VA employee there taking a patient – enrolled in the drug rehab program – to a crack house and leaving him there for the night. The patent later tested positive for drug use and was kicked out of the program. But the employee was not shown the revolving door (do they have one of those in the VA system?) because he’s still employed a year later. The newspaper writes, “That this individual is still employed by CAVHCS is profoundly revealing. The expanded authority granted the secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs is meant to more quickly address the agency’s problems.
