If oil production in the United States didn’t spike during the last four years, Americans would be paying an estimated $8 dollars at the pump. The conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Libya have all churned the worldwide oil market, except for the oil boom in Texas, North Dakota and Canada. The New York Times reports, “While oil rushes are nothing new to the state of J.R. Ewing and Spindletop, the new bonanza has doubled the state’s crude production over the last two years, suddenly making Texas a bigger producer than either Kuwait or Venezuela.” Think of that next time you are at the pump.
