The Department of Homeland Security has some serious questions to answer following a report of a major national security threat posed by foreign students whose whereabouts are unknown. ABC News says that DHS “lost track of more than 6,000 foreign nationals who entered the United States on student visas, overstayed their welcome, and essentially vanished – exploiting a security gap that was supposed to be fixed after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.” U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official Peter Edge worries “they could be doing anything,” adding, “Some of them could be here to do us harm.” We’d say some of them are most definitely here to do harm. Whether it’s from the flow of illegal aliens coming across our southern border, or the government losing track of foreign “students,” there’s a very real vulnerability in security protocols that needs to be addressed if we are to prevent another 9/11 – or worse.
