Christians on the Lebanese border are buying weapons and forming themselves into a loose militia to protect themselves from the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant. They carry their weapons, and some wait in the hills above their town of Qaa in case ISIL descends from Syria into the house of cards formerly known as Lebanon. The Christians have gotten some weapons on the black market. And groups like Hezbollah have shipped weapons to the Christians, using them as pawns against ISIL. While Lebanon is traditionally considered a country where Muslims and Christians have existed peacefully, Vice News reports the country has fractured and the military is too weak to restore order.
