The family of Steven Sotloff argue the Obama administration could have done much more than throw two FBI agents at them when the ISIL threatened to behead their son. The family’s spokesman, Barak Barfi, told CNN the family has sources “on the ground” that say a moderate rebel group sold Sotloff to ISIL for $25,000 to $50,000. “We do not believe that they [the Obama administration] gave us the cooperation that they need,” Barfi said. “Once Steve appeared in that video, the Sotloff family made one simple request of the administration and they were rebuffed on that.” FALSE! says the White House. Press Secretary Josh Earnest said of the alleged sale of Sotloff, “I don’t believe that is accurate.” This is mere hairsplitting over the death of a U.S. citizen at the hands of ISIL as the White House tries to deflect criticism over another foreign policy gone bad.
