In last night’s address to the nation on ISIL, Barack Obama claimed, “I can announce that America will lead a broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat.” Just how broad is that coalition? Reuters reports on two nations who will not participate: “The foreign ministers of Germany and Britain said on Thursday they would not be taking part in air strikes in Syria against the Islamic State militant group.” Just to clarify, Britain is our chief ally and Germany is a critical one. That they are not inclined to follow Obama is quiet telling.
