Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI) is a self-styled environmentalist and is running for Senate in part on his eco-friendly record. But he’s also a hypocrite. The Daily Caller reports, “Peters invests in companies that profit from fracking and burning coal.” According to his 2013 financial disclosure, Peters claimed between $1,001 and $15,000 in dividends from several fossil fuel industries, including for the hated activities of fracking and coal burning. The Caller notes, “The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsed Peters, calling him ‘a true leader fighting for a more sustainable future for Michigan and our nation by advocating for common sense solutions to help reduce our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and promote clean energy jobs.’” Just do as he says, not as he does.
