A hypothetical: Let’s say that some American troops were in Iraq (we know that could never happen under Barack Obama, but stay with us). What would happen if ISIL jihadis shot at them? White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest replied, “Iraq is a very dangerous place, and U.S. military personnel will have the equipment to defend themselves. Certainly the commander in chief would expect that the American troops do what is necessary to defend themselves.” Just remember, though, there won’t be troops in Iraq (actually, there are) and if there were, they wouldn’t be engaged in combat (unless they were).
