Obama’s New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) with Russia is going about as well as the rest of his foreign policy blunders. According to The Washington Times, “For the first time, Russia, which is in the midst of a major strategic nuclear modernization, has more deployed nuclear warheads than the United States, according to the latest numbers released by the State Department. Russia now has 1,643 warheads deployed on intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers. The United States has 1,642, said the fact sheet released Wednesday.” Since March, Russia has added 131 warheads, while the U.S. increased its inventory by 57. The fact Russian strongman Vladimir Putin is defying START is hardly surprising, but more curious is the additions to America’s inventory – mostly because it’s so un-Obamaesque. Regardless, the fact Russia surpasses the U.S. in nuclear warhead numbers shows that Putin has no intention of standing down. The Obama administration needs to show some backbone and provide missile defense shields to our European allies. More…
