If you’re among America’s top charitable givers, you must be a conservative living in a red state. And if you’re into redistributing everyone else’s wealth, you must be a Democrat living in a blue state. Those are more and less the findings of a new study by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. According to The Daily Signal, “The Chronicle compared states’ giving habits to how they voted in the 2012 presidential election. They found that the 17 most generous states voted for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, while the seven least generous states voted for President Obama.” Utah (6.56% rate of giving) topped the list, followed by the southern states of Mississippi (4.99%), Alabama (4.81%), Tennessee (4.45%), Georgia (4.20%) and South Carolina (4.13%). On the flip side, Massachusetts (2.19%), Rhode Island (2.07%), New Jersey (2.01%), Vermont (2%), Maine (1.95)% and New Hampshire (1.74%) finished last. More…
