The Patriot Post® · SCOTUS Did Not End Fight Over Marriage
Justice Anthony Kennedy stayed the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ recent ruling overturning the bans on same-sex marriage in Idaho and Nevada. While the pride flags waved Oct. 6 because SCOTUS declined to hear petitions in five states where the district courts overturned same-sex marriage bans, this move may indicate SCOTUS is interested in eventually ruling on same-sex marriage. This means the political fight to redefine marriage is far from over. Ryan Anderson at the Heritage Foundation says there is plenty conservatives can do to defend the ideas of traditional marriage, religious Liberty and limited government. Just look at the pro-life movement, how it shifted public opinion on abortion after Roe v. Wade, Anderson writes. “Whatever happens, it is essential to take the long view and to be ready to bear witness to the truth even if law and culture grow increasingly hostile.”
