The Patriot Post® · A Doomed Senator Landrieu Says Anything to Stay in Office

According to the accounts of the behavior of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) leading up to her re-election campaign, she deserves to lose her seat. She doesn’t actually own a home in Louisiana and it is increasingly clear she does not represent her state. And in a debate with her opponents, she was pulling out all the stops, trying anything, anything to save her seat. Her opponent leads by five points in the polls. According to the Washington Free Beacon, she drudged up a long-debunked lie when she said, “I support the Medicare program as we know it. [Republican] Congressman Cassidy voted to end Medicare as we know it.” When she was asked to give her own personal assessment of Obama’s performance on a scale from one to 10, she said he was “a six to seven,” which is a solidly political “meh” rating. She doesn’t want to support him, but hating on him too much would, well, he’s a Democrat too. It’s about the best rating a Democrat senator from Capitol Hill could muster about the president at this time.
