The Secret Service has had a bit of trouble of late, and a story out of Nashville only adds to the problems. “Nashville’s police chief is raising stunning new allegations regarding the U.S. Secret Service, saying local agents once asked his officers to fake a warrant,” reports News Channel 5. “Even more disturbing, Chief Steve Anderson said he complained to top Secret Service officials in Washington, and they did not seem to care.” The attempted search in January 2013 stemmed from a man who posted threatening comments toward Barack Obama on Facebook. The Nashville police chief said when the resident refused to come out before seeing a warrant, “one of the agents then asked a [police] sergeant to ‘wave a piece of paper’ in an apparent effort to dupe the resident into thinking that they indeed had a warrant.” That’s fairly typical of government – wave a piece of paper and expect total compliance.
