The Patriot Post® · McDonald's to Automate Order-Taking Next Year
Fast food has always been about streamlining and automation. It’s always been about speed of service and cheap price. That’s why it has been inevitable that fast food companies would turn to automation. The Wall Street Journal reports that due to a drop in revenue, McDonald’s plans to automate order taking next year, removing one person from the fast food staff. This comes at a time when fast food workers are striking, demanding $15 an hour wages. People making a career in quick service restaurants need to hear this message now: Get some marketable skills beyond order taking and burger flipping. “Would you like fries with that” is not a career, and technology will soon make you obsolete.
