The Patriot Post® · U.S. Directs Fire at Kobani While ISIL Terrorizes Baghdad
It’s all about the symbols in this war against ISIL. The Wall Street Journal reports the U.S. first thought Kobani was not important enough and it could bear its downfall to the butchers from the desert. But then, WSJ writes, “top officials concluded the Syrian city had become too symbolically important to lose and they raced to save it.” And that meant secret communications with the Kurds, a barrage of airstrikes, airdrops of arms to the embattled defenders. The Obama administration wants its victory but to enjoy the peace as well. See? He can defeat ISIL without a boot on the ground. And while incredible photos of American airstrikes have rocked the front pages of newspapers, ISIL continues to wage a multi-front war. It presses toward Baghdad. And yesterday, two mortar rounds came down 500 yards from the U.S. embassy.
