The Patriot Post® · Canadian Parliament on Lockdown After Shooting
A scary situation in Ottawa, and one that bears watching. “At least one gunman entered Canada’s parliament buildings on Wednesday and many shots were fired just outside the room where Prime Minister Stephen Harper was addressing a meeting of legislators,” Reuters reports. “Harper was safely removed from the building but parliament was locked down.” As always with these sorts of events, reports are quick to come in and often wrong. But, Reuters adds, “The suspected gunman was shot dead inside the parliament building, Ottawa police said.” There were other shootings in Ottawa, as well, including at the Canadian National War Memorial, where a soldier was killed. Was this a concerted terrorist attack? Perhaps. Hot Air’s Noah Rothman recalls, “Earlier this month, Canadian authorities broke up what was described as an ‘ISIS-inspired’ plot which would have targeted Canadians and Americans at shopping malls. The plot was described as similar to what occurred in Parliament; a low-technology assault using knives and guns.” Furthermore, Harper was scheduled today to honor Nobel Peace Prize co-winner Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who survived a Taliban assassination attempt.
