The CDC finally put together its response to the people traveling from Ebola-affected countries. It will monitor the travelers for 21 days and distribute a CARE kit (Check and Report Ebola) that includes a thermometer and graphics illustrating Ebola symptoms. It’s not the 21-day quarantine that many conservatives advocated, and it still relies on the good will and honesty of the travelers, but it’s better than taking everyone’s temperature and hoping for the best. “These new measures I’m announcing today will give additional levels of safety so that people who develop symptoms of Ebola are isolated early in the course of their illness,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said. “That will reduce the chance that Ebola will spread from an ill person through close contact and to health care workers.” Most of the news about Ebola in the United States has simmered down. Patients have gotten better, according to CNN, U.S. troops are training in case it gets worse and the bureaucrats are getting their sound bites into the media.
