The Patriot Post® · GOP Pulls Ahead in Congressional Races
It’s the last lap of the congressional races of 2014 and Republicans appear to be pulling further ahead. The Wall Street Journal reports the GOP has been taking its momentum into the House, sending war chest money to challenge Democrats there. Nathan Gonzales of the Rothenberg Political Report said, “The national numbers have been poor for Democrats for months, but now Republicans are finding potential opportunities in places where previously they didn’t think they had much of a chance.” And while the GOP wave has grown stronger and stronger, Republican leaders are beginning to look to 2016, to capitalize on the power they will probably be given Nov. 4. Politico reports House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said the party must make changes like making Washington govern more efficiently, and passing a long-term spending bill. “If we don’t capture the House stronger, and the Senate, and prove we could govern, there won’t be a Republican president in 2016,” McCarthy said.
