It’s not just the White House fence that is subject to intruders, but the White House’s computer network. Hopefully, like the fence jumping incident that highlighted weaknesses in the Secret Service, this is another learning experience. The Washington Post reports: “Hackers thought to be working for the Russian government breached the unclassified White House computer networks in recent weeks, sources said, resulting in temporary disruptions to some services while cybersecurity teams worked to contain the intrusion. White House officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation, said that the intruders did not damage any of the systems and that, to date, there is no evidence the classified network was hacked.” But get this: The Washington Post says the White House didn’t discover this intrusion on its own but it took “an ally” to tell them something was amiss.
