The NSA returned to it’s original mission Thursday – which is to protect the data and information of America – when it testified at a House Intelligence Committee hearing that there are a handful of countries that have the ability to launch cyberwarfare against the United States. “I fully expect that during my time as a commander, we are going to be tasked with defending critical infrastructure in the United States,” head of the NSA Adm. Michael Rogers told the House. “It’s only a matter of the when, not the if, that we’re going to see something dramatic. … I bet it happens before 2025.” Already, the NSA knows that some individuals have conducted “reconnaissance” missions into the United States’ networks. This is the new battlefield: An attack that comes suddenly, like a light bulb burning out, and then the nation cannot communicate, run electricity or move oil and natural gas. More…
