National Review editor Rich Lowry has some simple advice for avoiding deadly altercations with police in the wake of Michael Brown’s death after his fight with Ferguson, Missouri, Police Officer Darren Wilson. “If you look at the most credible evidence, the lessons are really basic,” Lowry said. “Don’t rob a convenience store. Don’t fight with a policeman when he stops you and try to take his gun. And when he yells at you to stop, just stop.” This common sense approach completely shocked and dismayed his fellow “Meet the Press” panelists. MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell exclaimed, “Whoa, whoa,” while The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson accused Lowry of trying to “relitigate” Brown’s death. There are certainly incidents of police abuse across the country, but Brown’s death doesn’t appear to be one of them. And generally, peaceful interactions beget peaceful results. It is pretty simple.
