Two of four terrorists apprehended in September after crossing the southern border illegally were freed by the Department of Homeland Security following a court ruling, Secretary Jeh Johnson has revealed, contradicting previous assurances that the group would be sent home. The Washington Times writes, “Earlier this year, Mr. Johnson had told Congress that four men who were caught crossing the southern border and who claimed to be part of a Marxist terrorist group would be deported. But Tuesday he told the Homeland Security Committee that two of them remain in U.S. custody, and two others were released into the U.S. and then fled to Canada, where they are seeking asylum.” Calls for immigration policy reform are not without merit – changes are in fact imperative – but judges refusing to follow existing protocols have done more than anything to contribute to our immigration woes. In this case, the border crossers admitted to being members of a terrorist organization, which obviously means they pose an imminent national security threat. It’s not worth any lawmaker’s time to offer policy changes as long as Rule of Law is trumped by political ambitions. More…
