The Patriot Post® · NY Cop Not Indicted in Garner Death

New York Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo was not indicted by a grand jury in the death of a black man, Eric Garner in July. Garner, a convicted felon with 31 prior arrests, refused police orders to place his hands behind his back, and was forcibly taken down by officers, notably, under the supervision of a black NYPD sergeant. Garner died shortly after the takedown. According to the Associated Press, “Amateur video shot by an onlooker showed Garner refusing to be handcuffed. Pantaleo responded by putting Garner in an apparent chokehold, which is banned under NYPD policy. Garner was heard yelling, ‘I can’t breathe!’” However the Medical Examiner’s report indicated no damage to Garner’s tracheal airway and is death was likely a combination of health factors.
