The Patriot Post® · How Will Alarmists Spin Record-Low Tornado Numbers?
The rhetorical doomsday scenarios spun by climate alarmists have reached a new culmination of absurdity, even as global temperatures have shown no increase for nearly two decades. And it’s not just rising temperatures that show signs of slowing down – across the nation, there has been a noticeable decrease in the number of twisters. USA Today reports, “The U.S. experienced fewer tornadoes in the past three years than any similar span since accurate records began in the 1950s.” Ironically, they add, “Yet meteorologists aren’t sure exactly why. As this year comes to a close, about 150 fewer damaging tornadoes than average have hit the U.S., according to data from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC). Explanations for the decrease in twisters the past three years range from unusual cold to unusual heat, or just coincidence.” Is there any doubt global warming would be to blame if the number of tornadoes had increased instead? The depreciated tornado count is largely driven by chilly weather that’s transcending winter, helping temper the prime severe weather season during the spring months.
