The 113th Congress was the do-nothing legislative body because the Senate majority leader was an obstructionist, even though the chamber took 657 votes. Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner writes, “But then the real evidence of inaction in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s chamber is shown by C-SPAN’s counting of measures, or legislation, passed. Over the last two years, the Senate approved just 25 measures, a huge drop from the previous Congress’ 36.” For being a big-government advocate, Reid sure likes to make government move slowly.
