The White House has responded to the Sony Pictures hack that left massive amounts of data stolen and a movie censored with even more sanctions against the country already burdened by heavy sanctions, specifically targeting 10 North Korean senior officials. But the announcement comes as the narrative anonymous intelligence officials have been telling the media grows less and less plausible. Cyberanalysis firm Norse Corp. says it has talked to the FBI about its theory that North Korea wasn’t involved with the hack at all. More likely, the firm says, a group of six people – one of them being a disgruntled Sony employee – pulled off the cyberheist. A senior vice president at Norse, Kurt Stammberger, said after Norse explained its theory to the FBI, “They basically said thanks a lot and shook our hands and took off. It sounds like from the PR perspective they are sticking to their guns.” Worrisome, too, is the Leftmedia’s acceptance of the narrative pushed by anonymous government officials. Instead of the media being a watchdog, it wants to be the lapdog of government, smacking up whatever morsels it can get, instead of finding and telling the truth. What does the government have to gain by lying to the American people here?
