Obama's Pre-State of the Union Stump Swing

The president’s State of the Union Address will occur Jan. 20, but Barack Obama plans to spend the intervening weeks on the road stumping for his newfound freedom. According to Deputy White House Press Secretary Eric Schultz, Obama will make a three-city tour in which he “will highlight the progress we have made in the economy and he will announce policies that he will highlight in the State of the Union address to push us forward – specifically in the areas of helping more responsible Americans own a home, getting kids a college education, and creating new, good paying jobs.” Translation: Restoring easy-lending policies that contributed to the economic collapse, creating more entitlement via education and raising the minimum wage, which will destroy jobs. Obama has no intention of dealing kindly with congressional Republicans, but rather, Schultz says, “[T]he president is clear that he will not let this Congress undo important protections gained – particularly in areas of health care, Wall Street reform and the environment.” Grab some popcorn.
