The White House’s decision to snub a solidarity meeting in Paris has some even among the Leftmedia questioning the president. CNN’s Jake Tapper reminded viewers that France was quick to support America following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but the same cannot be said for Barack Obama after last week’s jihadi attacks in Paris. “I think that it was beyond just optics,” said Tapper. “You … have to look at the fact of, who was the first world leader to come to the United States after that awful trauma in 2001. Who was it? Well, it was the president of France, it was Jacques Chirac. He came to Washington, DC, and he came to New York right after 9/11, within a week and a half or so.” In fairness, as Tapper pointed out, what happened on 9/11 in the United States and last week’s unfolding in Paris had, relatively speaking, far different outcomes. More than 3,000 Americans were murdered by terrorists, compared to 17 in France. But death toll aside, the attacks are identical in that they were perpetrated by ideologically driven terrorists. Unfortunately, as commentator Thomas Sowell observes, the president’s lax foreign policy stems from his flawed world vision. A president who has time to spend 17 days vacationing in Hawaii can sacrifice a few hours to lead the world against Islamic terrorism. More…
