The Patriot Post® · ISIL Attacks Hotel in Libya

Nine people are dead – including an American security contractor – after a group affiliated with ISIL attacked a hotel in Tripoli, Libya. The Islamic State in Tripoli Province, which is supposedly a satellite group from the one controlling vast swaths of Iraq and Syria, took credit for the Tuesday morning attack with a car bomb, firearms and suicide vests, calling it a “battle” against “crusader[s].” The Wall Street Journal writes, “A posting Tuesday on a Twitter account thought to be connected to the central Islamic State organization in Syria and Iraq described two of the attackers as their own. That claim is difficult to authenticate, but if further evidence surfaces that the self-proclaimed caliphate played a role, the attack could point to a growing footprint for a group whose rapid advance has unsettled much of the Middle East and drawn U.S. forces back into Iraq.” The cause of the unrest that has caused the Islamic State to gain a foothold in the country lies at Barack Obama’s feet because he supported the “Arab Spring,” which weakened governments across the region.
