Barack Obama turned the National Prayer Breakfast into an Orwellian-named forum to bash Christians and further his rhetoric against the Freedom of Religion. First, he said the Crusades were evidence that “people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ” – totally ignoring the implications he made for foreign policy. The likes of ISIL believe the Crusades are still going on and Islamic militants call westerners “Crusaders.” It’s not a far rhetorical bridge for liberals to cross, linking what Europeans did 1,000 years ago to the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. Secondly, Obama implied that the First Amendment’s primary goal is to shame people who hold differing beliefs from the leftist party line. Release the Politically Correct Police! “And if, in fact, we defend the legal right of a person to insult another’s religion,” Obama said, “we’re equally obligated to use our free speech to condemn such insults and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with religious communities, particularly religious minorities who are the targets of such attacks.” Obama doesn’t talk about debating differing opinions.
